sludge dryer for humid and pastry products

Kenki is a sludge dryer based on the unique design of self-cleaning double screw conveyors that guarantees the effective process of moving the feedstock. The dryer is specially designed for continuous drying of pasty and sticky materials.

Our company is an authorised European distributor of Kenki dryers, special sludge drying equipment developed by Japan-based Kenki Corporation.

Kenki dryer bases on the unique design of self-cleaning double screw conveyors that guarantees the effective process of moving the feedstock. The dryer is specially designed for continuous drying of pasty and sticky materials.

How our sludge dryer works?

Our sludge dryer is based on synchronized twin screw conveyors which are carrying the material through the dryer’s chamber and preventing sticking of the material to the hot surfaces of the dryer. Special design of blades that are turning in the intersection with each other enables to dry and agitate the material. Adjacent blades are scraping off the material that deposits on the primary blades. Solid waste is crushed and dried simultaneously inside the dryer.

No matter how sticky, adhesive and viscous the material is, Kenki can dry it without clogging inside of the dryer and with a stable, continuous operation. The special dual-screw constriction guarantees no operational trouble during the drying process.

Sludge after dehydration process of wastewater treatment is often affected by flocculants and forms large lumps, and it frequently happens that only surface is dried but inside are not when sludge is discharged as large lumps.

In the drying process of Kenki, the materials are moved forward into the dryer’s main body smoothly by being heated and crashed with a feeder at the inlet. The materials get smaller and smaller since they are continuously sheared and agitated during conveying and heating. As the material gets more divided, heat reaches inside more smoothly and surely, and quality of outputs becomes stable.

Kenki has a very simple construction and its initial cost is estimated to be repaid with the cost of industrial waste disposal for about 2 -3 years. Also, as the heat source of drying is only saturated steam, a mechanism based on combined use of conductive heat transfer method and heated air method helps to achieve a high quality of safety and hygiene, and running cost can be kept low by using surplus steam within your facility. Machine operation is conducted in continuous mode easily and there is no need for supplementary operators and labor. Since the quantity of replacement parts is small, maintenance is easy and its costs are reduced.

Because of low-temperature drying, the composition of the dried material is not affected and organic sludges after drying can become added value as fuel, fertilizer and many more. Because the low-temperature drying does not use flame, the temperature of the dryer’s outer surface is low and the dryer is safe and hygienic. Fresh air from outside is kept off when maintaining the temperature inside the dryer. Amount of moisture in the exhaust air discharging water is small, and the discharged water can be returned to wastewater treatment facilities.
